Cafes

TLC offers drop-in parent/child groups throughout the year to support children and families in building social connections and parenting skills.  See our events calendar for dates and times.

Early Connections/Positive Parenting

Picture
This café-style training developed by Zero to Three helps parents and caregivers:
  • Imagine their child’s point of view, especially during challenging moments
  • Notice and celebrate their child’s strengths, abilities and capacity to learn and develop
  • Delight in moments of connection
  • Respond with interest and sensitivity to cues
  • Provide consistent, age-based guidelines, limits and boundaries
  • Recognize and regulate your feelings and behaviors before responding to your child
  • Know that parenting can be stressful and missteps are part of raising a child
  • Work toward a balance of meeting your needs and your child’s needs
  • Seek help, support or additional information on parenting when needed

New Moms

This postpartum support group helps new moms understand baby’s developmental milestones, healthy attachment and become comfortable with all aspects of parenting.  Other topics include identifying symptoms of Perinatal Depression and connecting with one-on-one counseling to manage Perinatal Depression.
